March Reading Wrap Up!

Posted on April 2, 2025 by April

I feel a bit like a broken record now but here we go, another great months of fantastic books! Here’s a look to what I’ve read this month, some of my favourites and what’s upcoming in April.

What were my highlights?

So many highlights this month, where to start?

The Waystation Trilogy was my hidden gem. I picked up this author last month when I read Sea of Souls and I loved it, so I picked up her Sci-Fi trilogy. This trilogy is fantastic, I’ve no idea why people are not talking about these books. I was so hooked I read all three one after another which is usually unheard of from me. I typically like little breaks between series but not with this one. It was gripping, emotionally damaging, and very smartly written!

The Dark Mirror.. do I need to say anything more? Samantha Shannon wrote another brilliant book filled with tension, action, hope and I was glad to see a bit more humour despite the situation at hand. Book five in the series and as strong as book one. It was fantastic!

Which moves onto my next highlight, I got an advanced copy of Among the Burning Flowers. The prequel to The Priory of the Orange Tree and a more accessible entry point for those that may find the size of those books daunting (they are brilliant I promise). It was another brilliant edition to this series and I’m looking forward to my pre-order arriving later this year filled with full page illustrations.

Lastly, Bury Out Bones in the Midnight Soil. If you read my blog you already know I am a huge V.E. Schwab fan and my unbiased opinion aside, this book is fantastic. Schwab has an incredible talent and she is an artist of her craft. My heart was in turmoil and she’s constantly leaving dents in my soul from her writing. Another advanced copy and I can’t wait for my signed edition to arrive in June!

My favourite read this month?

I cannot choose, I read so many books that were all fantastic for different reasons. It’s impossible to choose!

TBR update

My physical book collection is sitting at 153 books finished and 120 left to read.. that’s not that bad is it? More read than not so I take that as a win.

Of my 153 read books I like to keep a record of my star ratings which I like to look back on. I tend to donate or sell the books that are 3 stars or below as it’s very unlikely I’ll ever pick them back up again. Looks like I have a few I can give to a new author that hopefully enjoys them more than I did!

Upcoming..

April sees some exciting releases, one of those is The Book that Broke her Heart, the finale of The Library Trilogy that I cannot wait to get my hands on. This series is absolutely phenomenal, and I have a feeling this book will be breaking my heart.

I’m also reading Empire of the Damned to prepare myself for the final book later this year. I need to read this series in bursts since it’s 700 pages of pain and heartache. Lots of action, vampires, and epic storytelling too but you know, lots of heartache.

I also want to read The Liar’s Knot book two in the Rook and Rose series and the March book of The Broken Binding fantasy subscription box. It’s high on my priority list, Six of Crows meets V for Vendetta, I am a sucker for a masked vigilante stealing from the rich and giving to the poor.

I want to hear about you read last month, speak soon!
