It’s hard to believe we’re halfway through the year already. I feel that the older I get the more quickly flies by, but at least I’m filling the time with fantastic books. I’ve hit 52 books on my reading challenge so far. So many great books, new authors as well as old.
New books!
My edition of Hyperion from The Broken Binding arrived this week. I’ve been really enjoying science fiction recently and when I saw this announcement a few months ago, I pre-ordered so quickly.
All the reviews for this one are very high so I’m definitely going to pick this up in July. Hoping this is the beginning of more sci-fi on my shelf! Not to mention the gorgeous artwork on the inside..
I only have two subscription boxes now; Illumicrate Sci-fi and The Broken Binding Fantasy. My last box from The Broken Binding, probably my favourite sub box of all time, was Magician by Raymond E. Feist.
I read this book last year and I remember really enjoying it. I do recall that the pacing was slow but it was so brilliantly written I didn’t mind too much. I look forward to next month for book two arriving, I’ll definitely be finishing this series!
My physical copy of Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil always arrived just yesterday! I got an ARC of this on my kindle a few months back so of course I’m rereading and I’m now almost halfway through. I preordered the special edition of this book from Illumicrate which should arrive around August. Schwab is one of my all time favourite authors so I’m so glad to add this one to her shelf and cover it in scribbles of my thoughts and feelings. These are books I always come back to when in certain moods.
Life catch up!
I’ve been packing up my stuff once a month and going camping for the weekend. It’s always a bit funny in Scotland, despite it being summer the weather can either be freezing and raining or scorching hot. Pack for all weather if you ever visit Scotland!
One of the best things about my country is that you are allowed to wild camp. Essentially you can pitch up your tent pretty much anywhere as long as you respect the environment and take everything away with you when you go. I’m hoping to take a longer trip and go further up North, perhaps around the North Coast 500 and soak up some more sunshine.
Currently reading
Anyways, I’m currently re-reading Bury Our Bones which I should finish in the next day or so. I’ve also picked up Kings of the Wyld which I grabbed at Waterstones due to a very positive recommendation! I’m also finishing up Labyrinth’s Heart which is the finale in the Rook & Rose series. I’ve been putting this one off because I have loved this series so much I haven’t wanted it to end! Do you ever get that way too?
